Book Nook – Reading List & Reviews

Dec 1, 2022

This year I was inspired to read more and to share what I’ve been reading, I’ve created a Book Nook!

My goal was to read at least 12 books and did not set any conditions on hardcopy vs. audio. To be honest, depending on the type of book, content, goals or activity I’m doing, my “reading” varies greatly.

As I started to pull together all the books I’ve in 2022, It became clear to me that not only did I exceed my goal, I also read an assortment of books. Below I’ve shared the books, short reviews and embedded links to the books as well. I’ve also begun to sort them, as this Book Nook will continue to be updated as I turn the pages. Feel free to share in the comments some of your favorite books as well!

Fiction

The House in the Cerulean Sea

This beautiful book is all about love, kindness, finding your voice, courage and community and is an amazing reminder that love and faith truly conquers any challenge!

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue

To be honest, this book was tough for me to get into, however, my curiosity carried me to the end. My takeaway is that there are beautiful lessons in the trust and strength needed to truly find yourself and that the warmth, sadness, love and loss from our past can be embraced to do the work needed to love and live in the present.

The Giver of Stars

One of my absolute favorite books (listened to it twice) I recommend the audio book version as it so beautifully narrated. Oh man, I could say so much about this book, however, I’ll say this…it’s about finding your true/whole self, trusting yourself and your gut feelings and above all fighting for what you believe in and who is important to you!

Based on a True Story

We Were the Lucky Ones

Inspired by an incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the beginning of WWII, unwavering will to survive, ingenuity and the strength of the human spirit to not only endure, but thrive in hope and love.

Development – Personal, Business, Spiritual and Mindset

Vibrate Higher Daily

A guide to living with intention and rising into your highest vibration, Lalah offers tools and encouragement to cultivate a lifestyle of positive, fulfilled wholeness.

Atlas of the Heart

I mean, what can I say, if you’ve not read the latest from Brene Brown, order now. This book shares specific emotions and provides tools for deeper understanding to get to the heart of what we are feeling to allow for deeper conversations to build connections throughout our life. I personally learned a tremendous amount about perfectionism, the relationship between compassion+empathy and love.

How the World Sees You

Leaning into more of yourself…this book helps you uncover this more deeply allowing you to see not only your value but value to the world that being you brings.

Hood Feminism

I am grateful for this book for many reasons, potent in its truths and deeply eye opening to privilege. To quote the book sleeve “Hood Feminism is a ferocious clarion call to all would-be feminists to live out the true mandate of the movement in thought and in deed”

Dare to Lead

What I loved is the reminder to stay curious, we never have all the answers AND that is OK. Another beautiful thing this book provides are exercises to become very clear of your core values.

Everything is Figureoutable

Biggest thing for me was that you’ve got this! Whatever it is! Creating better habits, tools for decision making and a big one, YOU are here for a reason, go for it!

The War of Art & Do the Work

A wonderful to the point guide for creatives and anyone with a project in mind-these two books are best read together, in my opinion, and they provide straight from the hip feedback. A very quick read that brings to light some barriers so you can take the steps and do the work to overcome and succeed.

Change you Habits Change your Life

I became very curious about ways to identify habits and how they were serving me and tools available to take small steps to align with more successful habits to achieve my goals. This book provided insight and some exercises to become aware of and create new habits.

How are you, really?

This book gave me reminders to get thrifty and creative for my projects, the importance of setting boundaries (with self and others) and how critical it is to say Yes to the right yes’s and more importantly No for the right no’s.

Outrageous Openness

All about faith. Trusting in the Divine to take the lead. This book offers a fresh perspective in truly releasing control, gaining calm and acting through intuition.

It’s Not Your Money

A transformative process to truly receive and prosper.

A Happy Pocket Full of Money

A conscious living guide for true abundance and joy through pure gratitude.

Happy Days

Transformation into newfound strength and freedom. She offers techniques to release fear, heal trauma and love more deeply.

Super Attractor

Those that are curious to learn more about manifesting, invisible guidance, deeper faith and receive methods and practices to truly find your flow, then this book is for you.
